Sorry not quite sure what you mean by connection status.0

Try a simple Ping test for now:
Type cmd in the search bar and right click on the top result and choose Run as Administrator Allow the program to open.
Once the Command box is open, write:ping https://www.yahoo.com
Example here:

i can't seem to do it as administrator as it says I need a password which I don't have. Mine is the only profile set up on there (when I go to user accounts in control panel it says Computer Administrator under my profile name) and when I run what you said against that it says "Ping request could not find host https://www.yahoo.com. Please check the name and try again"

It's good(Paella). Which firewall were you using? How many machines on your network?0
-
Was just using Windows Firewall as far as I know. Though I did have AVG Free installed - can't remember if there was a firewall through that. Haven't set up a network so I guess it would just be me? My work computer and my housemate's computer also connect to the wireless network if that's the question - sorry I start to get lost on the technical stuff.
Thanks0 -
You still have AVG installed.
Perhaps it is better to keep it simple. Use System Restore to take your machine back to before the situation changed. Otherwise we will have to go through your Services.
Open System Restore by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type System Restore, and then, in the list of results, click System Restore.! Choose a date to before the problem started.0
