Any house with a cavity can theoretically have cavity wall insulation (subject to a survey).
A 'cavity wall' is a double wall with space in between the two rows of bricks or blocks. Not between the plasterboard and the masonry!

Can I jump in please and also ask for advice. After we moved in about about 7 years ago to our detached bungalowwe found signs of damp. This has now been sorted and have air extractor thingy in our hall ceiling which ciculates the air to try and stop condensation. However, we still get some in our bedrooms and these rooms always feel cold in the winter - probably as they hardly ever get any sun because they are west facing. I am thinking of getting cavity wall insulation but am a bit wary because we had the damp problems in the past but am hpoing if we did get the insulation it would help with the cold problems in our rooms. But would this increase condensation problems on the windows ? sorry for rambling. Thanks. Meant to say the condensation is on our windows , and we have noticed the odd patch of condensation mould on the walls behind one of our chest of drawers
  • Hi awacko,
It would be prudent to address your condensation / mould growth problems before having the cavity wall insulation. Kindest regards, David

Thanks for this. We got a new roof and double glazing and there has been much improvement, but I I think that sometimes our bedrooms get cold during the night which is why I was think of the cavity wall but as I say I'm a bit nervous.
