Another thing that causes me stress but still do it. Leave everything to the last minute. Slowly getting better. I am working on Christmas at the moment. :T

  • Polesalot, Hiya and thank you for popping on and posting. Fab you going to "tart" up your sittingroom, instead of the whole re decorate and change everything thing. When i think of what I have given/thrown or sent to the charity shop, because it didnt match or ot was a few years old .

Its a fabulous feeling, when you have redone something for a fraction of the normal price. keep me posted on how the "tart up" is going :T

That's the way to go!:jWe do get good at doing this! I was so cross with myself last week, I allow myself 1 magazine a month and opt for GoodHousekeeping, as it gives all my yearnings a fix. Bought it last week and settled down to read and was so dissappointed - all Christmas stocking fillers, Glitzy party wear, How to cook Christmas Dinner. Before getting into MSE I would have just thought OK but now think before I buy in future I'll check it out to see if it's worth having:eek: Shame I don't do that with the evil fags!

Robsmum, yeah mags can be a right rip off. Must admit I always look through them in the shop first to see if I want them. Mind you thats about the only money saving thing I did do in the past.

Fags :rotfl:I smoke about 10 a week but if i have no cash I can very easily do with out. Now my friends who do smoke are so envious of me that I can do that......what I say to them is.....do you eat food when you are not hungry ? We all have out crutches. Theres and yours are fags, mine is food.

I am just going to make a coffee and sit down and pick out two zips from old cushion covers, to put in last two new ones I have left to make :money:. A saving of about £2

I am really enjoying finding ways to do things on the cheap.

My sister called out my house, about an hour ago and she said "oh I like your stool and cushions, where did you get them" " I got them in town, £60 for both" "Really which shop" "Actually I made them and recovered an old stool, cost me £25" she was amazed, said they were brilliant.

    :)

Our local market has a stall that sells old mags for about 50p each. They're usually only 2 or 3 months out of date (which let's face it is not really that old because they come out so early these days anyway) and are in good condition. Maybe your market has a stall like this?

I keep mags from years ago and pull them out if the urge appears, which is not so often these days. I decided long ago that they're pretty much the same for any particular month year after year. Especially the Xmas ones.

Occasionally there's a bonus like reading about someone who was then unknown who is anything but now, or about somewhere now local to you but where you didn't know when you bought it.
As someone interested in history and how our society changes over time it's also very interesting from that point of view. But then I kept some of my parents mags too. I have some going back to the 30s! Most of the ones I bought are from the 80s and 90s though I have a few from the last few years!
