Honda dealer charge for new timing chain
Comments

I think i dont have a choice but to drive and live with it at the moment
If you choose to do so, you should know that the chain could jump teeth and the result is the same as a cambelt snapping - total destruction of the engine. And if it did, you'd be completely liable for it happening.0 -
When did you last have the oil changed? Remember sludgy oil can make chains rattle like !!!!!!y!
Is it a petrol or a diesel engine?

Good Question there. Well now its like 90,000 has had its last service at 87,500 which included an oil and filter change. Castrol 0w 30 and has always done so. Strangly enough before the oil and filter change it was still noisey but after the oil and filter change it became more quiet but after about a couple of weeks later the noisey timing chain started to come back. Its a Diesel engine. They call me Mr Pig!0 -
Was the car being serviced at a decent garage or at home? How long had the noise been going on? You have had the car a year (?), but has it got a FSH, and was it always noisy?0

I would actually go back to Honda and ask them to clarify what they told you.
I've had it before where I've sent people away with one diagnosis, then had angry phone calls from people saying "why did you tell my better half it's xyz" and I end up hearing a diagnosis nothing like the one I've suggested. It's all to easy (understandably) to misunderstand something, especially if you're not that up on the lexicon of automotive repairs.
I think the dealer probably said "tensioner" which you may have misheard? Give them a call and ask them to clarify.

Timing chain / injector???
Sounds like Honda's "first time fix policy".
If they don't know what the problem is, they change EVERYTHING that could possibly cause it.
They charge the customer and then send the parts to the supplier who then has to pay up on their warranty (which is longer than the customers warranty). So the £2999 becomes £5998 in the dealerships pocket.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
