Hi and thank you so much for replies.
My son is not a minor....just still acting like one!
Oscar, thank you for your advice. If what you say is the law, then how do I go about returning the phone? Do I need to write to them? If so, what would I say? I am really no good on the telephone, I would just mess up....Like my son!!!
Thank you in advance0 -
I've sent you a quick PM asking for a bit more info, then I'll post the details on how to return the phone here.In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0

OK. There's nothing to worry about in the Voda contract, so I hope you should be able to return the phone.
Firstly, you need to call CarphoneWarehouse (sorry, but it's what they want). The number is 0845 601 0411. If you don't get 0845 phone calls free, try 0800 0491008 and ask for the "direct returns department". All they will do is look on their system and tell you whether they feel you can return the products or not. If they say ok, you've nothing to worry about. If they quibble, ask for the name of the person you are speaking to and thank them & say goodbye. Don't say anything else!!
If they will accept the return, you need to send everything back (use Special Delivery - it will cost, but you can take that out on your son when you give him a damn good kicking) to:
Direct Returns
CPW Logistics Centre
Bilston Road
Wednesbury
West Midlands
WS10 7JN
If they quibble, send me a PM and I'll draft you a letter to send to them.In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -
thank you so much.
Im going to try and get it sorted now.......
Will let you know the outcome.
Wont they just say, they need to speak to account holder ?0 -
Yes, they'll will only talk to the acc holder. The data protection act won't let them do otherwise.
Is your son less than keen to return it ?0 -

Get your son to ring up and then get him to tell the CS rep that he's putting you on. Providing he has given them permission to talk to you then the DPA doesn't apply. Just in case this rumbles on a bit, get your son to also put a password on the account. That way, anyone who rings up can discuss the contract if they give the password. If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

Technically, the op's son needs to set the op as a third party on the acc. If the ops son sets a password and the op use's it claiming to be his son he 'could' be accused of fraudulently accessing the acc.
Much safer to have his own password and access in case CPW don't play ball and the matter has to go further. . .0 -
oook...so after waiting on hold for ages, as people were queing up for new iphone4! the credit runs out on my sensible phone. I dont have a home phone so Id better go and use my friends nextdoor......dragging him with me!
and Jon, yes he is less than keen to return it but he'll get over it....one day.
Thanks again, will let you know the outcome.0 -
Good luck, follow Oscar's info and you'll get it sorted...0

That's the whole point of a password, though, isn't it? It's confidential (or should be) so only people who have permission to discuss the account can ring up. Surely setting someone up as a third party is just a bit "belt and braces", although I agree that it certainly wouldn't do any harm.If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button
