• OK Thanks Vfish thanks for the info, wish the manual explained things better, great little box of tricks tho, I think it prefers SD cards though to USB stick as I had a few problems sometimes with a stick, but not often, but SD cards work great. thanks, :j

I'd like to add that these little boxes also play any MPEG2 file perfectly - the coloured buttons on the remote are used for navigation whilst playing the file. So any video files stored on your PC/laptop can simply be copied to an SD card and then played on this STB.

btw. the max size SD card these boxes take I am told is 32GB - the cost of these at present is too high to consider using them, but I assume in time the price will drop. I have ordered a 16GB card from Play.com and will post further here if all is OK using it with the PC and STB. The STB manufacturers claim the box works with any speed of SD card.

Its amazing what these PVR STB boxes can do for the money !

I can't get my Neostar SCA1 recorder to recognise mpeg2 files; it records and plays its own files from TV but anything I try to access as a movie either doesn't show up at all (if it has a .mpg or .ts extension) or gives an unsupporetd fromat error (if it has a .avi extension). Exactly what file format and what filename extension did you get to work with yours?

Was wondering with this device, if used with a digital TV, can you record one channel and watch another. I know you need two Freeview tuners to be able to do this, and in this case you have one in the TV and one in the recorder, but does it work?
• I plugged in a new SD card in to the USB socket via an adaptor. It showed the disc info, but would not record. I tried a format, but it was the same, but now said it was write protected.
I checked on my computer and that also said it was write protected.
It is FAT 32.
The same happened when I used an external hard does anyone know how to remove the write protect please?
