Have you checked on the BT.com website to see if your line if BB is available?
If its not it should tell you there what the problem is and/or what to do.

Could be that the post code BT have for your residence is different to the Royal Mail postcode! Have you received a phone bill yet from BT? You may be best ringing them up and checking, especially if it is a new place.0

Hi Deefadog,
The way that most ISPs work is that when you enter your telephone number during sign ups - it checks that number against a central database of 'live' telephone lines to ensure that they can install broadband (and at what speed) on your line.
When you get a new telephone line in, BT need to update the central database to say that your telephone is live now. Usually they update the record within 24 hours of the line going live. However because the error message that you're getting says that the number isn't recognised then I think that maybe the cause of the problem is that you're telephone number hasn't been updated in the records to show that it's a telephone number that's in use.
I think that you're able to solve this by dialling 150 and explaining the problem.
Kind regards,

When our new line went live I was told by TalkTalk that their system would take about 2 weeks before it linked the postcode and phone number.
But once it sorted itself out we found out that they couldn't provide free BB for us, so we went with MAAF instead (which I can heartily recommend!)0 -
Thanks guyz!
I'll contact them ASAP!0
