car insurance gone up

Did all the price comparison stuff last month as it appeared insurance has generally gone up around 20% ... managed to get quotes cheaper than renewal [+ cashback on some] - but - if you search for customer reviews on the cheapest 5 or 6 quotes from the comparison sites, the the ratings are massively negative ie. 0/5 for customer satisfaction.
It would appear that the cheaper quotes are cheap for a reason - no customer service/help.
I ended renewing with my present insurer as I know they will answer the phone if I call them.
**Also am now having to fend off cold calls from allsorts as I suspect Go-compare sell on your contact details to marketing companies [I have been TPS registered for 3 years so it can only be the comparison sites to blame for the now daily calls]Learn to laugh at yourself ... everyone else has:rotfl:

i just renewed. found aviva cheaper than comparison sites by £40. and cash back site offers another £50 but when going through it it quoted me double the price! so just went direct to aviva0

Doh! I got my insurance due beginning of November! I hate shopping around for car insurance then doing it again through the cashback sites - still, it has to be done!
What I would say about cold callers, please, I urge everyone to try to keep these intrusive people on the phone for as long as possible (if it's convenient for you), play them, make them explain everything in triplicate, ask many questions, suddenly have a conversation with someone else in your household (lol even if you live on your own) then apologise and ask what they were saying, I usually talk to my cat then explain that she wanted to go out or have something to eat - lets them know that they are less important than my pet! I used to do this all the time with cold callers telling me they wanted to give me the latest mobile phone for FREE! I kind of miss those phone calls - they were fun!

My renewal quote was £780, up from £630 despite no claims, fines, etc. Shopping around and going direct I found prices for the same level of cover from £480, but a search on a comparison site found the same cover from for £455.0

The wifes Aviva now, 2 months free meant it was the cheapest by around £50. I've went from fully comp to TPFT for my old shed and it's came down to £134 (was £210 FC)with a £5 donation to some rainforest (Ibuyeco).0

Try comparethemarket too, as I got the cheapest quotes on there (Post Office came out cheapest with an aviva policy!) Oh and fully comp was cheaper than TPFT0

You really have to try all the comparison sites and the insurers own websites too.
There doesn't seem any rhyme nor reason to how they calculate insurance premiums. You can enter the same details two hours later and the quotes come in 25% more... or less, if you are lucky.
I recently used MoneySupermarket and got several quotes valid until the start date I specified. When I went back to actually buy the premium the 'guaranteed' quote mysteriously increased by over £80 by the time they had redirected me to the insurers website. Try as I might, I couldn't get the figure that was listed on the MoneySupermarket quotes page. In the end I gave up and chose a different insurer. Sorry Admiral, get your act together!

And dont forget, once you find the best quote go through topcashback or quidco for more cashback. (empty cookies first)0

Has the price of car insurance gone up?
I'm trying to get 3rd party f&t for my little hatchback - cost me £180 last year.
Best i can get on Confused.com is £330 and best on Gocompare is £230!!!
It usually cheaper to opt for fully comp insurance but with a very large excess. The large excess makes it in effect a TPF&T insurance policy but its cheaper and you also usually get free windscreen cover0 -
I think it has gone up. Two of my friends insurance has gone up a high amount and they have not changed their address, car nor have they had accidents. That quote you have isn't too bad, my friends went up by over £200.
got same policy with another insurer £500:cool:Who remembers when X Factor was just Roman suncream?0
