I think it has gone up. Two of my friends insurance has gone up a high amount and they have not changed their address, car nor have they had accidents. That quote you have isn't too bad, my friends went up by over £200.

Its because people keep insisting on putting in injury claims all the time. I wish I was only paying £300 for my insurance. The cheapest quote I have got is £730.

Try running a quote through for comprehensive cover, it is often cheaper than TPF&T.

You also have the option of opting for a voluntary excess for own accidental damage claims which could further reduce the premium

DO NOT! use price comparison sites... Period! Go straight to Elephant.co.uk or Directline for quotes. Or if you are over 50, use Saga Insurance. They only ask for £9 a month.

I've been putting some of our customer's through to an insurance broker in Birmingham called Pennington's as some of our clients have been quoted astronomical quotes for cars in London £6,700 springs to mind for a Scirocco. Pennington's could cover it for £2,700 with a £70 excess!

If you went via their website you would never phone them! lol Telephone number is 0121 358 2121 and ask for Carl.

Hi, what sort of age group do they deal with? My son has turned 20, and I was wondering what type of price you would charge for a 2001 Golf Diesel. Thanks!
  • I've just renewed mine with Bell (got a cheaper quote with Diamond, the same company and they matched it) and it's gone up by about £80, the woman I spoke to said it was due to the large amount of claims over last winter, but that was still the cheapest I could find.

I disagree. Using a price comparison site just saved me well over £100 compared to going direct to Elephant. Same cover, same company, 75% of the price.

Who pays that kind of money for insurance? I moan if it costs me more than £300!
