    It is true! Just that manufacturers were saying 'HD Ready' before it became an official technical specification. See also - Full HD - there's no spec for this. Generally accepted as being a 1080p panel, but should really read 'Full HD Ready' as the Ready part signifies that you have to plug something in.
  • Thanks for this, we are just really unhappy that we believed the tv would be HD Ready, we may still try a complaint as it is very deceiving and the television was bought on the premises that we would be able to get Sky HD on it at some point.

    It does have the component input. Is this enough to view Sky HD through?
    Yes but only if you use an early Thomson HD box (which are no longer made but are available second hand through ebay etc) but make sure if you purchase one that it either has an upgraded refurbished power supply as that is the only weak point on an otherwise very good receiver. Upgrade kits are available for just over £10 if someone can solder for you or around £40 fitted by the recommended repairers at the top of this forum.
