11 yr old boy getting greasy skin and spots

Our 11 yr old GS has started to get a glow (greasy skin) on his face and has a spot on his cheek . What products would be best for him to use as we suspect that its hormonal changes that are causing this. We use L'Occitane products for washing and bathing.

Our 2 grown up daughters never seemed to have a problem with greasy skin and spots, nor did I, so this is a new problem for me to deal with. I'd like if possible to get him on top of the siutation before he gets major break outs.

Thanks

I've not seen much from l'Occitane for very greasy skin, but I'd recommend the Body Shop tea tree range, and that he drinks much more water.

  • Liz Earle cleanse and polish. I have my almost 11 year old son using it and the difference its making to his skin is noticeable, like your boy, he has only had one or two spots before using it, but none yet since has started.

Thank you, I have heard good reports about Liz Earle cleanse and polish, so will try that.

I would also say that with my son, his skin is manageable with a good cleaning regime as long as he is eating well, getting enough sleep and not run down

It became very apparent this year on our hols (long haul flights) as after both journeys he was obviously tired/hadn't eaten as well as usual and 2 days later had a big break out each time

if it does get worse try quinderm, over the counter acne cream works wonders, just dont touch towels after use as it contains peroxide and use a moisturiser.

I use quinaderm for my acne and it is really good, I use the facewash and I also have the cream for when I get the odd spot. It did dry my skin out at first though so you would need a good moisturiser - ideally a non pore blocking one.
I have tried most acne treatments and it is definitely trial and error!

I have this problem with my 11 year old too. He also has greasy hair just two days after washing. But trying to get him to get into a good face washing routine is the hardest thing. He really doesn't seem the care very much about his skin, but I worry about it. We have been trying to encourage him to use a scrub aimed at teenagers at least a few times a week. other than that it is just water. I am sure there will come a time when he cares more and we will have a problem getting him out of the bathroom. I have told him i will give him a facial which seems to him like some sort of punishment!
  • I would try something this teatree wash

Suitable for face and body and not "girly" either, I realise that there are other cheaper teatree washes out there but the quality of the oil in this one is very good and the whole family can use it. It really does smell clean and fresh and have the anti-bac to help with spots.

I expect if you shop about you can get it cheaper than QVC.

If this doesn't work I would try him with the Liz Earle but I can't see him bothering to faff around with the hot cloth to be honest.
I wish I would take my own advice!

Thanks for all the comments, I have already ordered Liz Earle cleanse and polish. I dont think it will be a problem getting him to use the cloth that comes with it as he already like to use face packs!!!:) He loves it, he doesnt have them all the time, but every so often he will go and look at them in the shops and ask for one, then in the evening he asks me to put it on his face and we sit there watching the tv together till its time to wash it off. He's then quite proud to have a lovely soft clean face, although his mum and her partner are not happy with it, they say he'll turn out to be gay, which I dont agree with, I think it shows he's bothered with his appearance and what he looks like, and if he does turn out to be gay - SO WHAT, I dont give a monkeys, as long as he's happy.

my daughter had the same problem I took her to the doctors as I thought it was a bit unusual her being so young, he said it is quite common and prescribed PanOxxl cream after a week of using her face looks 100% better
