Contract automatically extended as "minimum term"
Hi,
Basically, long story short, I was on an 18 month contract recently and past the end I kept on getting charged on a "monthly rolling basis". I had assumed it would automatically end outside the contract and on taking it up with Orange I was advised that the contract length was a "minimum 18 month term" and unless I gave 30 days notice I would keep on getting charged monthly. Came as quite a shock to me and wondered how accurate/legal this was, and whether I had any rights to claim back the extra direct debit. Thanks.

It a standard way contracts work, they're for a minimum term of 12/18/24 months at that point they switch to a 30 day rolling contract. All mobile contracts are the same and all that info is detailed in the T&C's. You have no right to claim back the payments, sorry.
If you don't wish to continue with Orange either give them 30 days notice or (if you want to keep your number) ask for your pac code and give it to a new network,0 -
No, this is standard procedure where you revert to a 1 month tariff with exactly the same mins/texts etc.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

Imagine your surprise when your phone stops working because you didn't tell them you'd like to carry on...
Read the T&C's... it's a minimum term, not a defined length.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j
