BT Cancellation charges

Hi,

If anyone could offer any advice it would be much appreciated.

I signed up with BT in June 2009 signing up to a 12 month contract for Line rental and evening & weekend calls. I then moved home in November 2009 when i spoke to the adviser at BT they told me because of the move they would have to restart my 12 month contract from scratch. which was not a problem.

I am now in the process of moving again but have also found a better deal with O2. I phoned BT to end my contract and was told my 12 month Line rental contract would end in November as expected but my Evening and weekend calls deal was under a different 12 month renewable contract and would not due to end until June 2011.

First off i did not know this was a "renewable" contract and i have looked at BTs current packages and cannot see anything that says they are 12 month renewable contracts just 12 month contracts??

Secondly the adviser i spoke to when i moved the first time told me they had to restart my contract not that they would restart part of my contract... why would anyone have 2 different start dates for the same thing?

They now want to charge me £78 to end my contract with them, i asked the adviser what the charge would be if "both" contracts were ending in November and i was told £22...

How can i get out of paying the ridiculously high fee???
