Kenwood Chef - Attachment questions

I have just bought a cheap Kenwood chef which has a whisk, K-Beater and dough hook but nothing else - no instructions, no information on other attachments. I was wondering if anyone was familliar with the model and could offer any advice (or good places to look)! I want to get the most out of it and join all you Kenwood Clubbers in extolling its virtues!
I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...
I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!0 -
The worse thing I ever did was to sell my Kenwood chef (A701 I think circa 1975) and all the attachments of which there were many, 10 years ago for £50. I then bought a super dooper "food processor" which I have hardly ever used and it makes rubbish cakes so I use a hand blender. Wish I could turn the clock back. Happy cheffing to all you lucky people that have still got them!0

You need to find out what model you have.
Turn it upside down and look on the base. It'll have something like A901, A701 etc on it. That's the model number.
Then look on ebay for attachments. There are always loads going.
There's also a link to the instruction manual somewhere here..."Finish each day And be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and Absurdities have crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can."

Mine has the model numbers on the motor - which you can see if you lift up the main part - as if to attach a dough hook.
Once you have a number, call Kenwood for help - they sent me a parts list and an instruction booklet - which also details what attachments you may want. From there you try carboots and Ebay for the atachments, or if the kenwood parts site 4kenwood.co.uk.:wall:0 -
Are the "tools" for the Kenwood chefs interchangeable with all the different machines?
Looking on ebay they are vintage, old, nearly new & new machines & tools.
I'm thinking (can't believe I'm saying this I must be getting old:o) asking DH to get me one for xmas (mind you I buy him tools as presents, but he loves them:D).
So if I bought a mixer say

Can I buy tools off ebay or must I buy the same model (or vintage:D) as the one I've bought?
Is it that the higher the numbers the better the machine, so this one is KM336, but the KM500+ are better?0 -
I don't know how the KM numbering works.
With old models, the 70's models were the 701 series, AFAIK the accessories for the 701 series mixers were interchangeable on the 701 series models.
The newer models (and I can't tell you when they changed), are 901 series models. My research tells me that the accessories for the 701's don't fit the 901 series BUT I believe that the attachments for the 901 series and the new models (so the KM's) are interchangeable.
You can tell whether it's a 701 or a 901 by looking at the plate on the bottom of the unit where it will show the model number.
I struggled to find a 901 model with attachments and didn't fancy investing in a 7 series to then find that if it died I would have to replace the mixer and the attachments plus the 7 series attachments go for pretty serious money at times!
In the end, after lots of agonising I bought a new model with the high speed slicer and mincer to go with it.Piglet

Wow thank you, you know your Kenwoods:T
I'm after a mincer too.
What one did you go for?0 -
I agonised for ever hence the acquired knowledge!
In the end I bought this one http://www.johnlewis.com/230416866/Product.aspx because it was the model that they have in Costco so it was cheaper (around £190 I think) and their customer service is great so if possible I buy from there.
I bought the mincer and high speed slicer from http://www.electricshopping.com/shop/kenwood/kenwood-store/mixers-food-processors/kenwood-chef-major/index.html look at Chef and Major accessories. Their service is great and there prices were good.
Today, I have used mine to chop bags and bags of apples from the tree, to make cakes and to make pastry. I love it!Piglet

New Kenwood Chef KM336, can I buy the cheap attachments on ebay for older models?
http://www.kenwoodworld.com/uk/Products/Kitchen-Machines/Chef-and-Major/Classic-White-Chef-Kitchen-Machine/
Got this model, realised after I bought it I can't buy the food processor attachment for it:(
Interested in the mincer/sausage maker, ice-cream maker, high speed slicer shreder & the rota food cutter to start:D
Also need (want) a spare bowl, I guess it has to be a KM model one?
I have spent ages on MSE & the internet this morning, but i can't find the answer to this:(0
