Some might think I'm pretty dense, but despite not owning a kenwood chef yet I went ahead and bought a heap of attachments today. But in my defense they were all in a box, and for 2 pounds I got a glass blender, citrus juicer, mincer, sausage filler, and what appear to be 2 stick blenders
So, I have a few questions:
The sausage filler says it's part A726, so I'm presuming this means the parts will all be for a 700 series, might I be right? I presume they all belonged to the same chef owner since I was told as much at the garage sale, so if the sausage filler is from that series then I reckon the rest must be.
In the box were two stick blender attachments.... but I've never seen these on or for a kenwood chef. Has anyone?? They appear to be identical, as to why she had 2 is anyones guess.
Final question is, if I go ahead and get the 700 series model if that's what these attachments fit, what other accessories will fit that model? I'd really like a pasta attachment if there is one
Thanks in advance

Hi, I had a quick look on the Kenwood website, includiing their spare parts service. The A726 is no longer made, although you can get replacement pieces for it - all the new equivalent part numbers begin with "9" instead of "7".
I notice that they have a customer helpline, would be worth giving tghemm a quick call perhaps?
Our Customer Service Department can be contacted on 0239 239 2333. Our opening times are Monday to Thursday 8.30am-5.00pm, Friday 8.30am - 12.30pm0 -
Hi,
if the attachment part begins with 7XX or A7XX then it will be for the A701 model chef. I think the stick blenders may belong to something else - I have never seen anything like that for a chef. Could you post a picture of them?
There was a pasta maker made for the A701 - I only just found this out - it is model A736. There is a huge used market of attachments and parts for the A701 - your best bet is probably ebay or boot sales. I use my A701A all the time - they are very well made and if you find one in good condition it will probably last ages.
The A901s are also very good - parts for them are still made so if it ever went wrong you could easily get it fixed. Saying that though the switch on my A701 quit working a few years ago - I took it to our local electrical shop and the guy there was able to fix it no problem.
There is a A701 kenwood chef recipe manual online that lists all the attachments available for that model - I will have a look around and post the link if I can find it.

Hmm, think I'll use the call to kenwood as a last resort, seen as I'm currently located in Australia. It's certainly handy for backup though.
I'd be interested to see that online manual with the attachments listed, I did a search on here earlier and couldn't find anything related to these stick blender thingies. I assumed they were kenwood chef bits since they were in the same box, but also to me they seem to be that kind of styleCan't tell whether it would fit a kenwood on sight, since I've never seen a kenwood with my own eyes!! :rotfl:
Since there is a pasta maker for the A701, that is certainly the machine I'm after then. Just need to find the pasta maker here, there's a less enthusiastic kenwood fan club down under.
Anyways, a photo of the stick blender thingy coming right up.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
These are the stick blender thingies:
Both identical, no matter what they are I have no idea why there would be 2Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
I don't think those have anything to do with a Kenwood Chef - they look just like the attachment for my old hand blender!
One of the most fun attachments is the pea huller - they only made these for the A700 and A701's. I suppose you really only need it if you grow your own peas but I still love using mine and look for un-shelled peas, my dd's think it's great entertainment!
I haven't found the online manual yet - I have a pdf file that I downloaded a while ago but Kenwood took it off their site now. Someone (I thought from here) found it online again but I can't find the address. I'll keep searching though!

I've just been given a brand new KM005 ( with food processor and liquidiser attachments ) as a present:D ( I would never have spent that on it myself before anyone tut-tuts!!
). I made a cake in it yesterday ( bit of a guddle compared with my old hand held mixer though - it didn't even seem to mix the stuff as well ) and a smoothie in the liquidiser to try that out ( again, guddle putting it all together compared with the stick blender I usually have). I am hoping though it will come into its own with the breadmaking I plan for the weekend and save me the twenty minutes kneading by hand.
I've seen loads of posts on here on how people love their Kenwoods and I know it must be worth persevering. I realise that a fair bit of the hassle is that I am just learning the ropes and it will take some trial and error to get it right, but what I don't want to happen is to feel that I could have made everything the way I used to by the time I get all the bits out and end up just using the old gadgets I have.
So, to cut to the chase - does anyone have a clever accessible storage system for all the bits and pieces ( I do have some cupboard space but don't want to spend anything on specialised storage for the attachments) or do you have some tips for streamlining the use of the machine?
Thanks !
( On rereading this I feel I sound a) a bit ungrateful for the present and b) a lazy pig - I'm not either of these things honest!! )0 -
It sounds like you were happy with how you worked before, so there is nothing easier about using a chef. I hope your bread works out well, that has to be worth it, not having to do the kneading.
I am not that hard working in the kitchen, so my Kenwood is appreciated, and is taking over jobs from other gadgets. Such as my fruit juicer - I got the old centrifugal attachment, which I much prefer, as it gets every last bit of juice out. Then I got the shredder/slicer, which I love, not only for the amusement factor (it works quickly and bits of veg fly out of it and you have to catch them) as it does my slicing in seconds. I can now get rid of the kenwood gourmet, which did not work.
Also the mincer - I have yet to use it, but has got to be better than using the manual one.
I still use my hand mixer thingy as its easy to use, and the blender stick, saves on washing up (but pulverises everything).
All my attachments were acquired in the past fortnight and live in their boxes on my kitchen table, so I can't help with the storage problem. One day I hope to solve mine too.
It's an expensive piece of kit, I hope you can make it use of it.:wall:0 -
I only have one attachment for my Chef so do not speak from experience, but would a plastic storage crate that you can pull forward out of the cupboard work? Bit like a drawer and no bending to rummage right at the back of the shelf. For what it is worth I still have my hand mixer, and if I am only making a small quantity I still use that, but the Chef if I am doubling or trebling a recipe. They work better with a bigger quantity to mix - get a flexible spatula for scraping out/down the bowl. I think you will like your Chef for breadmaking.0

Addiscomber - The tip about storage sounds like a great idea - I do have a deep shelf in a cupboard that would take a plastic crate ( or maybe it would need two - the attachments are all over the table at the moment and look like they would fill an entire cupboard never mind one shelf! ). Even better I have one of those crates upstairs right now which isn't being put to much use so I'll give that a go. Thanks also for the tip about the amount of mixture, I did try it for just one cake, and most of the mixture stuck on the K beater not in the bowl! I can see now that it would be better with more in the bowl, so I'll keep that in mind and do a double recipe next time. Thank you!0
