Delighted to hear that you managed to get a company to cover your Dad. I hope he has a great holiday. When does he go?

Thats brilliant news that you got the insurance sorted, and a trip of a lifetime, apart from wishing the circumstances could be better xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
  • Glad to hear you got something sorted out!

I know it's not much now, but maybe speak with your local Macmillan nurse or similar, you'd be surprised just how helpful they can be in this situation. Doesn't shrink the cost right enough (my insurance went from £60 for a week in New York pre-diagnosis to over £1000 with the same company for a "lesser" cancer) but they can advise on better companies to go to.

I am over the moon for you in fact I have tears streaming down my face. I am so happy that he will be able to travel and that you have the security of knowing he has the insurance cover he needs.
My prayer will be for you that all will go well for the journey. I know how much it will mean to him as I recall just how important it was for me to get Brian over to Ireland. It meant the world to him and I stepped out in FAITH believing that the Lord would take care of us!

I had his Consultant's phone no so that I could call them at any time and I did twice during that week. I was told each time to double up the steroids and we got through it. Brian died about 4 weeks after we came home.
Our worst problem was that when Brian had a biopsy at the outset he had a brain haemorrhage just after it. He had to have massive surgery and was on life support for 5 days and at that time we didn't think he would get through it. He was 55 but they said he had the lungs and heart of a 30 year old. He was a runner running several marathon and his fitness was why he survived
We would have settled for 5 minutes to say good bye and we got a year to the date. Our son Graduated our first Grandchild was born and our Daughter brought her wedding forward. It seems perhaps strange to say but it was the happiest year we had ever had in (30) as we made every minute of every day count.

It was Brian's determination and spirit which kept him going and I am so happy to hear that your Dad has found the same.
GO FOR IT and make very MINUTE count! What you are doing now is providing memories for all of you and most of all for him.
I am just so happy for all of you!

    Warm regards

    Sue

Hi there.. can anyone please please help. My dad has been diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Grade 4 brain tumour. It is terminal, the average prognosis with treatment is 14 months. He had a holiday booked to St Lucia in Caribbean before he discovered the tumor and would desparately still like to go. Does anyone out there know of a company that might give him travel insurance. We were given a macmillan listing from the hospital but most companies are not interested?

If you have been in this position and obtained travel insurance please let me know we would be so so grateful.

I am searching foir my mum as we are going on a cruise in 4 weeks and she has a GBM grade 4 and on chemo but we are determined to go on this med cruise. Did you have any joy with insurance. Hope all is well with your father. Thanks Lucie

The OP says she had success with a company called 'free spirit' in the end. Hope you get sorted.
