Hi there.. can anyone please please help. My dad has been diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Grade 4 brain tumour. It is terminal, the average prognosis with treatment is 14 months. He had a holiday booked to St Lucia in Caribbean before he discovered the tumor and would desparately still like to go. Does anyone out there know of a company that might give him travel insurance. We were given a macmillan listing from the hospital but most companies are not interested?
If you have been in this position and obtained travel insurance please let me know we would be so so grateful.

I cant help and Im sorry your dad is in this position.
I can only say that other people can learn from this and always, always take travel insurance out as soon as you book your holiday.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I have helped some older, fairly fit, people get insurance and that was quite a struggle... I am afraid in this case you are going to find it difficult
as the companies calculate the risk of admission / repatriation / medication etc and may well find this too high risk.0 -
Thank you for replies so far, I have been through sheets from cancer research and macmillan all afternoon and nobody wants to know. We thought Insure Cancer Limited looked hopeful but no joy. Booking insurance in advance may not have been any use as most have smal print that do not cover cancer. Life does not seem fair, we so much want to give him his last holiday. If anyone else out there knows of someone that can help, please get in touch we do not have much time on our hands financially to sort this out.
Thank you.0 -

My friend had terminal breast cancer and got a list of companies to try from the Association of British Insurers. The cancer insurers wanted over £1000, but she got cover from Citibond for £67 for 5 months in Zante. This covered her cancer, she only needed to pay a higher excess of £250 if any claim related to the cancer.
However this was 6 years ago and things might have changed.0 -
Thank you, I was given a number for citibond yesterday but when I called it the message was number no longer available. I will google later on my return from work. Thank you, we will try anything.0

always take travel insurance out as soon as you book your holiday.
That may not always make financial sense. If you have any pre existing conditions or are of more "mature" years, it often is the case that the deposit on your holiday is less than the insurance premiums. In which case you are better off taking out the insurance when you pay the balance of the holiday cost.0
