Nationwide deal for existing card holders??

Has anyone been offered a balance transfer deal from Nationwide where they are an existing card holder, I would be interested to sit and wait to see if they do but if no one has I won't bother.

No never. And when I rung to cancel they didn't offer me anything either. They just said - O.K. and that was it!!
  • AFAIK you only get one "offer" and that's your lot :(

This is why the "new customers only" advertising was so annoying they were the worst at new customer only offers
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.

But apparently they are "proud to be different...."

Now the only reason why have credit card with them was removed (free foreign transactions) I suspect they will need to change tactics...

The Nationwide credit card still has free foreign transactions (in the EU anyway, 1 per cent elsewhere) - it's the debit card that is starting to charge, from November onwards.

Sadly I think you are mistaken they have replaced no charges with free pointless travel insurence. (pointless in the fact I and I am sure a lot of others would not trust free generally set-up insurence prefering to pay for ones that know my circustances thus being more likely to actually cover me.)

Not mistaken. The situation you refer to is on the FlexAccount.

The credit card does not charge fees for use inside the Visa Europe region. It says so here :

    http://www.nationwide.co.uk/creditcard/goldcard/foreigntransactions.htm

The 1 per cent fee is passed on if you use the card outside Europe, but there are no fees for use within Europe.

Just to be clear and to clear up any possible misunderstanding, it free on foreign purchases.
It's not free on cash withdrawals - interest is charged.

Many people had the debit card for cash withdrawals rather than purchases.

That might be the source of some misunderstanding.
  • I've had my NW card for about 5 years. I did get an offer a few months back. It wasn't great....something like 7% with a transfer fee and only for about 6 months. It's worth calling them and asking if they can offer you a deal, but don't expect too much.

I understand that perfectly. The point I was making is that the changes that are occurring in November are to the debit card, nothing is changing with the credit card, which has always charged interest on cash withdrawals.
