Orange bad customer service

I'm after some help and to understand where we stand:
I bought my mother vouchers from orange shop, thinking that they can be used to buy a mobile phone. Now I have been informed (by an extremely unhelpful and rude Orange shop manager) that these vouchers can only be used for phone credit. At no point was I told this, or see a sign that states this. Apparently, I wasn't told this because "it's the only thing that the vouchers can be used for, so we don't tell our customers this". I'm not a customer of Orange, so would never have known this. And I can't get the money back either.
Is there any way I can get the money back? What are my rights as a consumer?

Shops won't take them back (I believe they can be cancelled and refund if returned in something like 10 minutes, but that's about it).
If you didn't ask in the shop where you bought it at the time, then you're stuck with it. You might be able to sell to to a some you know on Orange payg maybe ?0 -
sell them to someone how much was it for? What goes around-comes around0
