Keeping the house tidy

  • ok some people may not agree with me but i personally do not believe you can have an immaculate house when you have small children. yes it can be clean and tidy but to me a home is there to be enjoyed by all if i wanted a show house i would never have had children. i weekly and daily do the usual clean through and tidy but if there are a few toys out so be it, there will be plenty of time for me to have the perfect home when my children have flown the coop but i guess next comes grand children so maybe never lol

  • Hi Gadgeteer - i always wonder this, but then my friends all have bigger houses than me, but probably about the same amount of stuff, so it is no wonder our flat looks a bit messy.

I am finding that decluttering is helping, and it is definitely easier to keep tidy rooms tidy/clean iyswim. i've gradually been round each room having a blitz, so that now I am (just about) managing to keep some semblence of tidy. We have a toy box in the living room, so any toys get lobbed in there at the end of the day, and I try and keep on top of the washing up/keeping clothes clean each day, then I fit a bit of cleaning the other rooms around that. Mind you we only have 1 toddler rather than multiple muddy feet to clean up after!

It isn't pristine, and definitely looks like we live here, but it is good enough for me (just about!)
