    yeah!! Congratulations!!

  • Ahh congrats MissCoupon...

We're going to end up doing things backwards too... deffo. A couple of weeks ago, I posted on here saying about how I'd like to get married here in Australia, but that friends and family probably wouldn't make it... So that got me in one of my internet-research zones, and I actually found somewhere in France instead (OH and I have always loved France and said about getting married there) and oh, whoops, I slipped and emailed the woman to enquire about prices (more because I didn't want to get my hopes up that we'd EVER afford it) and now she's only bloody pencilled us in for a perfect weekend in June 2010!!!!

No deposit or other committment (ha, in more ways than one;)) just yet, we said we'd pick up again with her in the new year... So OH has been briefed :D and actually agrees that yes, that weekend would be perfect - it will be our 10th anniversary... I've even shown him which rings I like :)

Just to make things even more backwards, I'm hoping I can pop out a sproglet before then too! :rotfl:

So yes - we'll probably be all higgle-di-piggly too and will most likely have it all organised before he gets round to actually proposing!!

Thanks for posting this though - I'm glad we're not the only ones!
  • I think that eveyone should do what is right for them, there is no right or wrong way:)
My OH 'proposed' on 1st December, nobody knows yet, we have booked the registry office, venue, entertainment and not a ring in sight!!! Getting married 29th April 2011,very informal...so much to do... so little time(a very DIY- MSE wedding)

Blue Monkey - have you put the wrong year? If not, you've missed your wedding and you're certainly not popping a sproglet out before your wedding ;)
Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP

Ha ha - yes I mean 2012 :p Told you I was getting everything in a muddle!
  • We got engaged on our first date (we'd been friends for months and I had no idea that he felt anything for me until he asked me out), been together for 2 1/2 years and we're getting married in 2012. But I don't have a ring and probably wont end up with one now. I'd rather put the money toward the wedding, we're hoping to do it for less than £5,000 all in so no point spending more on a rock!

Wins for the wedding: membership for a 'wedsite' and app, £35 gift voucher for party supplies shop, £50 worth of hand painted signs, 1kg of heart shaped marshmallows :money:

When we first started talking about getting married (OH is nearly divorced, so it has been on the cards for ages) we loved the idea of being able to announce our engagement and wedding date at the same time.

For various reasons we weren't able to do that, but we did at least have my ring. Sadly, we have told lots of people before OH's ring is ready (being resized) and I felt a bit sad for him not being able to do the finger waggling bit :)

I think doing it your way round is lovely - you can announce with a ring proudly on finger AND tell everyone the date all at the same time. Enjoy it, and congratulations!
