Well put Mike, so people may see it as the easy way out, but they forget about the loss of assets, IPA's, BRU/O's, notice in the local paper and the effect it can have on your finances for the following six years.

Practically and administratively it is relatively easy, but surely that is down to the professionalism of the court and the OR offices involved, which more often than not, make sure things proceed without hitch.

Some people may think bankruptcy is a way of walking away scot-free but in many cases that’s simply not true. I may now be debt free but I lost my house and to this day can’t buy online or sell on eBay as I cannot get a debit or credit card. In many ways I am still paying 3 years later just not financially.

You could get one of them pre paid cards you know, they use the mastercard network...

I got to keep my 'full' debit card with Lloyds...

The Co-op would give you a Visa Electron card.

and as Mike says, the Cashplus card is great - for shops/internet/ebay

Go and get a Cashplus card and start selling your unwanted stuff on Ebay!

Where have all that lot come from? Somebody has seen the light and realised that prepaid credit cards are a good idea!
This lot weren't all on the go in September when I got mine!

I know.. I like the fact it works out the rough cost aswell !!

I have a splash plastic one... its a pay per use rather than per month, to be honest though I dont use it as my bank card is fine

Hi,

I'm worried - in everything I have read about BR, there is mention of showing that the reason for the BR is not of your own making. But it is! I took out consolidation loans, used my credit cards, ran up a couple of overdrafts, took out another consolidation loan and on and on it goes. Of course it's my own doing - no-one had a gun to my head! I'm only 16 days away from BR and i'm really panicking. There are so many things in my finances that wouldn't make sense to the OR I'm sure. What about my car - my Dad owns the finance, I own the car. Only I can't prove any of it, I don't even know my Dads address! Who is going to believe that? A year ago he gave me a car and now I don't even know where he lives? And what do I put on the form, that I own the car, or that he does? What about my boyfriends stuff? We moved in together just 2 years ago, I used to lodge, nearly everything we have was his and I can't prove any of it. I have visions of all our stuff being taken aay and it's not even mine. My poor bloke! Panic panic panic
