MOT - What to expect

i went to the council depot and my xsara failed TWICE.. actually went to Citroen nearby and it passed ( was a free mot offered to me as im part of the xsara owners club) so if there was any sort of incentive to gain work Citroen would of failed it.. baiscally what they said to me about brakes was if they pass on the RBT then they pass them..
Brake discs are no longer rejected unless they are in extreme danger of failing immenently.

Of course they're going to treat you well, one wrong move and the owners club will never go there again! how many hundreds of members?

Update:
Needed the MOT done urgently and council test centre was fully booked for over a week. Car is now booked in tomorrow @ 9:30 with a mechanic that a couple of people from work suggested was 'alright'. I guess time will tell if the guy's decent (and what if anything needs doing on the car...). I shall let y'all know...Everyone needs a volume control -

It's in the lap of the Gods, congratulations for supporting your local independent mechanic.

My local council place is 20 miles away and a non starter.
Where I go I started going at 16 with my dad 20 years ago (is it that long?). At that time he was one bay that perhaps 2 cars could fit nose to tail. Set up for MOT's and all repairs happened in there too. Since then he's added another place with a Kwik-Fit/Fast Fit style with an additional 4 bays and another MOT bay.
They've never done me a bad turn and I'd recommend them to anyone.
I do most of my repairs myself, however I also get them to do work depending how flush I am as they're good to me so it's only right they make something off me too.
So I'm one for your recommended local independent aswell.0 -

As promised, one update - my lil car passed first time :j.
"Slightly pitted" brake disc(s) appear to have become "slightly corroded", with estimates of 10k miles left.
Conclusion - honest mechanic found
