spybot ran all the way through - just 84 browser entries to 'fix'

now running malwarebytes with the heuristics (whatever that is) disabled.

No need now for that if you completed the first scan fully.

Just download, install and run Hitman Pro in Normal Mode

The first scan was only the short one, I've not done a full one yet. Should I try that first and if so in which mode, safe or regular?

I'm letting DS1 have an MSN fix whilst I pop out and then I'll have another go.

Hitman Pro was clean and I have now done a full malwarebytes which was clean too. Very odd. I've told DS1 to see how it goes now.

Thanks for you help and if anyone can see anything in the above log which needs attention then please let me know.

what do you mean by hanging?

how much ram is installed, what is your commit charge and peak commit in task manager, performance?

Switch from avg to avast5, uninstall ask toolbar

control panel, regional and language options, languages, details, advanced, tick the Turn off advanced text services, ok

Disable JavaQuickStarterService (jqs.exe) - control panel, java, advanced, misc, untick java quick starter and place icon in tray, and untick everything under debugging

Go into task manager (ctl alt del), click on the performance tab, post the commit charge total, commit charge peak, and physical memory total figures.

control panel, add or remove programs, uninstall avg and ask toolbar.

then download and install avast free.

    Commit Charge total 503836
    Commit Charge peak 1077324
    Physical memory total 2358120

I've uninstalled avg and zone alarm toolbars (could not see ask toolbar on the list) and installed avast.

Whilst running spybot it pauses for a long time on ActiveSecurityFraud but does not list it as a problem. I've been google searching and it looks like lots of AV programs do not pick it up. Could this be a problem?

    Many thanks

PS malwarebytes/hitman and spybot all free of problems again today.
