I'm also in the process of buying my first home and I can't wait for the day when I have the keys in my hands. I'm a first time buyer and a little daunted by the whole process but I must be independant someday...
Hope you are happy in your new home.
For us, as FTBs too, it seemed really daunting too. But to be honest, now i'm looking back on it, the solicitors, vendors and financial advisor were all really good and held our hands throughout the whole process. I don't think you should be scared to phone when ever you would like an update.
Chin up!

Hey, it's going really well thank you. My apprehensive feel when i first got the keys has now passed. Now that we've been carrying out quite a lot of diy, it's really starting to feel like our own home.
We're FTBs, and have been living at home, so we can get the bulk of the decorating done (kitchen, living room and master bedroom) before we move in; it will make it so much easier. Each time we go across to the house, we also take a couple of boxes of our things, so we'll save on van hire etc.
Good luck to everyone in the process of buying!
