I read loads of reviews and strongly agree with cyclonebri1. Brought a Megane yesterday because it looks good and suits me - only time will tell!!

I have a very nice 07 Focus for sale at £6k - but I'm not allowed to plug that under the rules of the site, so won't mention that the OP or any other potential buyer can feel free to PM me if interested ;) .

(It is the best car I've ever owned)!

sorry its over my budget lol

I have seen some ex police cars, 1 owner,1 years mot, full service history, granted they will of been ragged and the site doesnt tell you the mileage (probably high) but I was thinking that if anything had gone wrong on them they would of been put right.

    freelander td4
    2005-05 reg. diesel,ex police
    £4,495

    ford s max 2.5 zetec
    2007-07 reg. 6 speed,ex police
    £4,295

    peugeot 407 2.0 hdi
    2005-05 reg. 6 speed,ex police
    £3,995

    ford focus 1.6tdci estate
    2006-56 reg. turbo diesel,ex police,
    £3,895

Those are just some examples, but WOULD YOU BUY AN EX POLICE CAR?

One half of me always says "YES" quite emphatically, cars that have been thrashed and serviced correctly and wanted for nothing are always the best to drive, and tend to last forever. Just remember to keep thrashing it occasionally.

Only problem is with these, (with a little experience of ambulance service vehicles) is that when the extra electronic gubbins are removed they generally are not removed with quite the same finesse they are fitted with....... Might end up chasing a few electrical gremlins, and the dashboards tend to look like swiss cheese.

    Regards,
    Andy

Mines a 55 plte estate, wife has had an 07 hatch for 2 years and my daughter has had an 04 hatch for 4years, all 1.5 diesels. If we had had any issues we wouldn't own 3. :TOther daughter had a 55 Scenic 2ltr petrol when she had the twins simply didn't like the people carrier image and heavy petrol usage, so that one went after 6 months, no issues with the car itself tho' ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

I could put up with all that, it's the goings on in the back seat that would put me off.
Only yesterday I pulled up in traffic opposite an ex police Puggy, I know because every removed sticker was sillouetted in the cars paintwork.:T

A4 maybe worth a look too

I had an A4 from 138,000 miles and ran it another 40k with no problems.

My recommendation would be a VW Golf mk4 TDI, it should be comfortably within your budget and in my view the mk4 is the best Golf VW made. The economy on the TDI is astounding and I'm now running my 4th one that has 160k on clock having covered 150,000 miles in total on the 4 cars with no real problems.

Had the current one for 18 months, bought for £3500 at 141k and other than exhaust have had no other problems in that time.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
