I shoot high quality photgraphs.
When viewed on a PC and displayed on a 1080 HiDef TV the results are excellent.
I now have them as slideshow and it is in Mpeg2.
Again, viewed on the PC, it is just as I want.
However, when I make it into a DVD using an authoring program, the result is a let down.
I understand that to get the original quality, I could make it into a BluRay disk, but not everone has BluRay to play it back.
My question is, what is the best way of keeping the quality as high as possible whilst burning to DVD ?

Hi
Maybe your slideshow program is cutting corners.
Check the vob files.
Use something like MediaInfo to find out what the video bitrate is.
MediaInfo:-http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en
With movie DVD's the video bitrates are many thousand Kbps - probably in the region of 6000Kbps, 8000Kbps, 9000Kbps for 720x576 PAL.
If your slideshow program is creating vob files with low video bitrates that could be why the result is a let down.
The solution then would be to try using a different slideshow program.Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
I am using two programs.
The first, to make the slideshow, is Wondershare DVD Slideshow.
After I make 5 different "Slideshows" I use Roxio Creator Pro to Author and burn the DVD.
The initial result from Wondershare is excelent and in Mpeg 2
It is when it is made into the DVD that the quality drops.
Again, I dont expect BluRay quality just the best DVD I can get.0 -
What are the picture sizes that wondershare is making them into?
And what are the original sizes? (pixel x pixel)
Your never going to get a great picture by compressing them down to PAL picture sizes:idea:0 -
The original photo size is 5438 X 3626 240 dpi
Wondershare is producing them at 1920 X 1080 resolution
20000 bitrate
So am I right in thinking that DVD Pal is the limitation ?
and cannot be improved0 -
DVD resolution is 720/704×576
That's the problem.. DVD resolution is no sufficient for decent photo slideshows.
No way around it unless you use blueray, or playback from a PC0
