Have been googling, but my entry level ignorance needs the bright light of mse experience please.:)

Which is better for onward travel by public transport- Seville or Malaga? Other?

If p.t. is not a sensible option, any helpful hints on carhire please?

I read that there is a small 'airstrip' airport at Cordoba - comments?

Thankyou for any input.

Seville is slightly nearer to Cordoba than Malaga and you can easily get a train from both.

So whoever has the cheapest flight is the one to go for.

Trains are cheap and comfortable, and the line from Malaga has spectacular views. There is a little railway station just across the road from Malaga airport -- you would need to take a train to the main station, and then a main-line train from there inland to Cordoba.
  • Ampersand, there are frequent trains from Malaga to Cordoba, there are also 2 types of train, the Avant and the AVE, the AVE is about 10 mins faster than the Avant but more expensive. If you book on-line you can save quite a bit of money as against paying at the station but that depends on how flexible you are. Seville to Cordoba takes 45 mins on the train.

Also if you are over 60 as an EU citizen you can get a Gold Card which entitles you to a big discount on the day of travel.

Driving from Malaga airport to Cordoba could probably take up to 2 hrs.

  • ampersand,
I may be wrong with just eu citizens able to get the Tarjeta Dorada.

    just found this

Your passport will be enough proof of your age for the Tarjeta Dorada on RENFE trains. If I book in advance the online fares are often cheaper than the ones that my Tarjeta Dorada gives me. Even so, they're good discounts.
    40% discount Mon - Thurs
    25% discount Fri - Sun
You can buy your Tarjeta Dorada at any RENFE railway station. It costs €5 and is valid for a year.

    and this
