Should I downgrade my tariff

Hi everyone,
I have a IPhone 3g and at the moment i'm on o2 £45 a month tariff which gives me 1200 mins, 500 texts and unlimited data. I don't use anywhere near these amounts. I just got the more expensive tariff as the phone was then cheaper.
As i'm 9 months into the contract i am able to downgrade to a cheaper tariff. However after ringing them yesterday i would lose my unlimited data and picture messenging would also be charged for.
Shall i stick with what i have or save £5 a month but lose the other things ?
Also do all o2 customers lose the unlimited data in october or just new ones or those changing tariff?
Many thanks in advance ;)

  • Hi there

Anyone who took out a contract more than 4 months ago with O2 has the unlimited data for the duration of their contract. If you're on a 24 month contract and are 9 months in, you have 15 months left of unlimited data before you'll be hit by the cap unless you change your tariff. The same goes for the picture messaging.

How many picture messages do you send a month? Could you post photos on to one of the "twitter" sites like Yfrog or TwitPic & have your friends linked in to a Twitter account so they can see them?

How much data do you use each month? If you are using more than 500Mb, then you may want to stick to the unlimited tariff unless you intend to drop a further tariff bracket to £35 after another month and save yourself £10 - then you could spend £5 of that to get an additional 500Mb.
