sofasofa - good / bad? Any advice?

Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post this, but does anyone have any advice or experience of buying sofas from sofa sofa?

We're looking to buy a sofa bed in their current sale and have seen some good and bad things written about them on the web.

Thanks!

A bit of info if you search on thsi site. We have a stanford highback and a sofa bed and we really like both. No probs in order or delivery, and both are comfy. RECOMMEND.

We bought two sofas from them 2 years ago. They've been great, for the price. They were half the price of anything we'd have got from [insert big-name company that always advertises on the telly], even after one of their perennial half-price/double-discount sales. We have no complaints about the quality, it seems comparable to any other mid-range supplier. Also, the delivery staff were very good -- no problems taking them up quite a narrow staircase to the first floor.

We have the Aspen by Thomas Lloyd which are part of sofa sofa. It's a lovely well made piece of furniture and it's lovely and comfortable to sit on.

Bought from there after two ladies from my Mam's work recommended them as they were pleased with their sofas.
Here I go again on my own....

I have had 2 of their sofas for about 6 years now. They were fairly cheap and are still in nice condition. I didn't have any problems with them at all.

A friend bought one from them - it is fine, quite comfy. It is 'leather', but as with all these cheap leather sofas, the bits you don't see (back and sides of arms) are vinyl.

I think the problem is in buying something like a sofa or bed that you haven't seen or tried. I wouldn't personally as I think you really need to see how soft/firm it is. Also, the reviews of Sofa Sofa/Odeon/Thomas Lloyd suggest that if there is a problem they really don't want to know about it and getting a refund is very difficult.

Tesco and argos both do sofa's from around £250. My friend got a Marks andd Spencer Rosina sofa which is very nice (though quite soft) and they start at £350 for a large one. Even John Lewis do some at £300 now.

Note there is a "bricks and mortar" sofa sofa store near Cardiff, so if you live anywhere round there it's well worth taking a trip. We have family round there so popped in to view the products when passing then ordered off the net.

I've got a Thomas Lloyd sofa and there is no vinyl on it. The whole sofa is made from semi-analine leather.

Tesco and Argos use a lot of split or bicast leather which is much poorer quality than semi-analine.

It does usually say when it is part leather/part 'faux' leather, though you can usually tell by the price as well. It sounds like Thomas Lloyd are the upmarket bit of Sofa, Sofa as their cheapest leather sofa is about £700 - I would expect that to be all leather.

As for DFS, their sofas are made in China I believe, and their reputation and customer service is so notoriously bad that I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

If the OP can wait until January, Marks and Spencer usually have some good reduction, like 50%, on their sofas.
