Sister rang - it was not blood on Mam's mouth - Brother had said it wrong in haste - Mam had been sick with blood in it  She was terrible when they went down this afternoon - confused and delerious - nurse said they were worried about her difficulty swallowing and had asked speech therapist to see her about it - Sister told them that this was already being dealt with. Mam had nothing to eat or drink since 8 o'clock last night but was not on drip and no 'nil by mouth' sign on bed even though this was the case. Sister pointed out that she was dehydrated - she is so tiny that it doesn't take much to dehydrate her at the best of time. Nurse then came and put drip on her and when my Sister went down tonight, Mam was a bit brighter. But she has not had any of her medication since last night, and she takes loads, so Sis pointed this out as well but nurse said that any meds would have to be administered through drip. Sis also also said she hadn't even had her inhalers and nurse said 'oh is she on inhalers?' Then nurse camd back and said that Mam had 'torn her leg when 2 nurses helping her with commode in afternoon and they had put sterrie strip on the wound. The first thing they had asked when she was admitted was wheather she had an open wound, in case of MRSA, etc, and of course she hadn't - but she does now   Sister is worried that she will try to get out of bed to go to toilet/use commode during the night and will fall - or fall out of the bed there's no side guards on her bed  Nurse said she had been told to press buzzer if needed help or use the commode - after injury, 3 people now needed to help her if she does - oh by the way she is only 7 stone in weight - three people:eek: Mam has Alzhiemers and will not remeber to press the buzzer
I said I would play it by ear and wait to hear from Sis as to how she is in morning - but ready to go up at short noticeMr 3Dogs 3-7-12
