Ok, thats great ! so you do get a reply back for your ping commands
something like
Pinging virginmedia.com [212.250.162.12] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 212.250.162.12: bytes=32 time=25ms TTL=120
Now, just type in the same cmd window;
"tracert virginmedia.com" and please paste what comes back. (tHis is just to find your router's IP address )

Just back....I guess it was just Internet Explorer being offline. Should be plain sailing from now on.
Microsoft Security Essentials or Avast 5 are decent antivirus solutions.0
