No, I just needed to change encryption level to 64-bit from 128-bit.

Still struggling to get online, assume I need to do something in internet options to do with connections?
    No sig!

If you say so.... but I wouldn't trust WEP to keep my wireless connection secure.

Why don't you connect the laptop via Ethernet to help to eliminate the possibilities?

Installed all the drivers yet? There should be no yellow question marks in device manager.

    Could you do the following please;

Click Start-->Run, then type in "cmd"

    then type "ping virginmedia.com"
    or
    "ping yahoo.com" (without " quotes)

Does it bring a reply back or "could not find the host" error, please post here what comes back ?

Also, please do a "ipconfig /all" and post here what comes back.

    start, run, cmd

    in the box,

    ipconfig

if you don't have a 192 address, you aren't connected to the network, so need to check the wireless settings again.

if you do have a 192 address, check the lan settings in internet explorer, tools, internet options, connections.

if you can ping the net, check the ie settings, it should work assuming you haven't installed a 3rd party firewall

If the laptop connected to the internet without problems while it was "wired", then it must either be the wireless driver you installed or your router itself causing the problem.

If you are using a Netgear wireless router, could you please type in http://www.routerlogin.net on the browser and see whether that brings something back ?
