Tv from argos died after 9 months of use.. no receipt!

Hi

Just using this for a bit of advice.. i bought an alba tele from argos at the start of january and came home yesterday to nothing being displayed on the screen, sound is fine though..however i was heavily pregnant at the time and my dad bought the tv for me with cash and cannot find the receipt and my husband trying to declutter has thrown the box away..is there anything i can do? or is my only option getting this repaired myself?

apologies if this isnt the right place to put this! first time thread :-)

Thanks

  • how did you pay? if with your bank card the statements will show the transaction and that should be enough for Argos to prove when it was brought etc. If it was by cash then I think you could be stuck

She paid by cash - says so in the OP!
  • often these a days there is a date of manufacture associated with many electrical items. It may be printed on the device somewhere or alternatively the manufacturer may be able to access the date with the serial number... might be worth giving them a call!

  • They sometimes can go off the manufacturing date but that was more than likely over twelve mouth's ago they keep a record of when the item was sold so unfortunately your probably out of look. Find a local repair should and get a quote.

turn over of stock is often VERY quick these days. It costs money to store stock so therefore it moves through distribution network to the retail outlet swiftly.

We have a Mira shower that was bought in late january that developed a fault. It was a gift so we didn't get a receipt. It developed a fault a couple of months ago so we called the manufacturer who confirmed it was manufactured in early january and therefore authorised the repair man to come out.

Well if it been made in china/Indonesia it more likely wont have been air fright it would have been sea fright, which is a good few weeks travel time. Then storage at local depo then out to the shop could well be over twelve months now and that presuming then even keep list most companies dot.

Shower are compact unit that be shipped by airfreight in bulk amounts for not much money.

These catalogue type shops that sell ex Argos stock sell Alba items so they can be bought elsewhere
