Strange phone call about my windows pc

I've just had a strange international call from someone who was phoning about my 'Windows computer'.

The line wasn't clear and he kept breaking up but he said the call was about my pc and asked who it was that used the Windows computer.

I ended up putting the phone down as I couldn't hear him properly but I'm a bit unsettled now as there have been a lot of International calls to our house over the last few days, all of which I've ignored as they are usually the automated 'congratulations you have won a holiday' type. However OH answered the phone this afternoon and it was an international call...the person asked for me by name but the line was dead when I got the phone. Not sure if they are all linked or not.

Any ideas or anyone had any similar calls? I can't for the life of me think why someone would call about my pc.

Thanks Donnie, I'd be happy if it was just a scam, it just felt a bit weird him asking who it was rather than do you have a windows pc, iyswim.

Just read an link on another thread and the article says the person was asked for by name and they quoted the address details before launching their spiel.

Don't know why I was so concerned tbh but feel better now, thanks guys.

If they asked you if you owned a Windows OS PC first, would you then believe them if they said their systems showed you had a virus on it?

When/if they call again tell them that it's a pink computer and you can't see any windows on it, but it has a nice slide out drinks holder in it. ;)

    :rotfl: @ pink computer

No, the bit that concerned me was the fact they seemed to know I had a windows pc and they just asked who owned it. It came across as a factual call rather than a sales pitch or a scam thing.

If they'd asked if I had a windows pc, I would have twigged straight away that it was a chancer phone call. As soon as they started going on about viruses I would have twigged and just put the phone down.
