Most money saving way to end contract with Tmobile
What is the best moneysaving way to end a contract with Tmobile when Porting.
My Contract with Tmobile ends 26/09/2010.
I requested & recieved PAC on 12/09/2010.
I recieved Letter below on 16/09/2010
Your transfer request
Further to your request to transfer your mobile phone number to another service provider, we can confirm that your Porting Authorisation Code (PAC) is ######### for the following number:
Number
###########
Your PAC is valid for 30 days until 12110/10. If it is not used within this time your number and your mobile services will continue with T-Mobile. Give your PAC to your new service provider when you request the transfer and they will give you atransfer date. Once your transfer has started it cannot be cancelled and your contract with us will automatically end once the transfer is completed.
If you area consumer customer we would like to remind you how ending your contract with us works. Your terms and conditions say that you have to give us 30 days notice to end your contract with us.
That notice started when you called us to request this PAC code and it will end 30 days later, so your final bill forthat number will include your price plan charge for the 30 day notice period. This will appear on your bill as 'Notice Period Charge.
If you are leaving us whilst you are in a minimum term commitment, an early termination charge will also apply. This will appear on your bill as 'Early Term Charge'.
Any remaining credit at the time of transfer will be lost and not refunded. We will send you a final bill within 14 days of the transfer. If the final bill is in credit, the amount will be automatically refunded back to your original method of payment.
Now i was of the opinion that if you were out of contract when you ported your number it ended as soon as and you stopped paying and you were refunded your month paid in advance pro rota from porting date.
That is the way it has always been for me in the past but the underlined seems to state different.
Any views on the subject welcomed!

If you ask in the last 30 days (not prior), t-mobile can and do charge the extra month line rental.
Happened to me and I whined (especially as I was aware of the above and I asked with 30 days to go but was deemed to be within 30 day period by a whisker). After complaining, they waived the extra month line rental.0 -
Thanks OAD, then you would have to port early and get caught again.
If i'm thinking right.Be good to the young on their way up you might need them on your way down.0 -

No you get the PAC code 30 days prior to end of contract. Then you have 30 days to use the PAC code to move the number. So best time to put that into action would be 7 days prior to end of contract to allow for transfer delays.0 -

Yes ageree that would be the way to go and even if you were ported a day or two before contract ended those days have already been paid for, so no further payment should be due.
But then how do you read this bit

That bit - early termination means paying up what you would pay to end of contract (i.e. all remaining months line rental, you get final bill when you use the PAC code).0
