Is the iphone 4 available from Tesco on PAYG, confused?

I was taking a look at the Tesco iphone pay as you go tariffs where I can see in the table they have a listing for iphone 4.

http://direct.tesco.com/p/inc/specials/iphone/tariffs.asp

But when I go to the main iphone page at Tesco mobile it says that the iPhone 4 is not available on PAYG.

"iPhone 4 is currently not available on Tesco Mobile Pay as you go tariffs. Keep checking tescomobile.com and we'll let you know when it is. "

http://www.tesco.com/mobilenetwork/content.aspx?page=123

So can I use a PAYG tariff with iPhone 4 or not?

  • It says "Coming soon" on the purchase page, so I'm guessing you can't, no.

I suppose you could buy your iphone unlocked from Apple instead of Tesco and then just buy a Tesco PAYG sim.

The phone costs £30 more from Apple though.

It seems very, very difficult to buy an iphone from Tesco anyway, they are always waiting for stock and when new stock does arrive it goes straight away. So even when they do start selling PAYG phones i'll probably never be able to get one.

O2. Got mine from O2. I was a bit upset about having to buy £10 credit after spending so much on a phone but i guess you have to

If you already have an O2 payg acc (being used or not) they'll wave the £10 topup.
My lad bought an HTC Desire on payg a month back and he took a sim he hadn't used for a while (with no credit on it) and they said he didn't need to buy the credit with the phone. . .
