Dear users. I was a bit shocked when i saw all these comments. I have some things listed for sale. I think the site is great, a UK based company supporting local people.

While we are not against the site as such, and I'm sure the horsey set will welcome a niche auction site for their particular hobby, why do the site owners feel the need to copy ebay's site design and their 'power seller' system so closely ? There are other niche auction sites that don't feel the need to do that.

Having the design the same as ebay's just means that the site comes across as a bit of a con and as others have said when Ebay's lawyers find it, as they surely will, it will get removed and all the effort will be wasted.

As an example here is a niche auction site, which I use, that doesn't pretend to be an extension of Ebay and still manages to support the target market quite effectively. http://www.bid4bees.co.uk/default.asp
  • hahaha. No i can safely say im not part of equibid. LOL. Just a bit frustrated that everything in the UK is run by foreign people. And when a local UK based business tries to keep it British, all the defeatists come out. Like i said, we can all see the resemblance to ebay, a bit obvious. Im quite happy to list my items for sale on there and support them.

That is not the first UK run site, there are dozens launched every week. In fact most of the ones we see spammed on here are purely UK.

However, as the sellers seem to be rather unique (cough) you must treat it as a vanity project, your own personal website but masquerading as a knock off ebay really. Some people like to self publish books, others to run persnal websites, and there is nothing really wrong with that at all but it won't attrcat other users.

However this one is different as they are using a template based on ebay, so will probably disappear quicker than the usual ones we see that are basic out the box auctions and not knock off ebays. Personally If this had been my site i would have taken more time to set up a site that is not going to look just like ebay and have all the resulting problems and instead set up a new site that concentrated on having the niche market of 'horsey things' to attract users.

Who's Simon? The person running it? If so why is the site registered to Werner Snyman? Just wondered.

  • Just looked at this site not much use if you are not into horsey stuff.
I agree with what a few others have said I expect this site to be closed down the second one of ebays staff see it and report it to their solicitors for copying ebays brand symbols all of which are copyrighted.
