We got that one the I mentioned from RD and that is plenty big enough for Me, Mrs TNG and two growing boys!! You can easily get a large chicken in it

My mum doesn't have a cooker and does all her food preparation on my 'Georgie' (which I lent her) or in her microwave!
Also agree with other posters, George is great for toasties too. A cheese and pickle toastie was the first thing I cooked on mine!

I bought a GF grill over a year ago as we were having our kitchen done and were without for months as we had very bad damp. Anyway it is still in its box unused.

Should I get it out and use it>>>

How do you do toasties?? Any other tips to using one??

That's a good idea... can't think of anyone I know with a slowcooker though.

Boot sales often have slow cookers for sale. I got a really nice one for my sister for £2.50. I think mine was only £9.99 from Argos though.

  • Does anyone use a george forman grill without an extractor fan in the kitchen?

It's the only reason I haven't yet bought one. I can see all the smoke detectors going off at once:eek:

Oh well off to tend to the slow cooker and breadmaker:rotfl:

    Hi foreverskint
I live and work in sheltered housing and we recommend a george for cooking as it doesn't set the fire alarms off. As much as I love being visited by two engines and lots of burly firemen:D :D the brigade are not happy with constant false alarms at the complex. Since many people have been using georges our false alarms have dropped loads and our system is really sensitive.I had banned sausages at one point as it was getting beyond a joke:rotfl:

The Guardian is my only luxury.

Lucy Mangan always makes me laugh (if by any chance you're reading this, thanks!).

Her articles on exercising (well really not) made my day.

I make ham, cheese and onion.

I put the ham on the bread, then the onion then the cheese. No butter inside or out on ours, pop into the FG, when cheese is melted, cut in half.

If you put the ham on the top, I find that the cheese melts but the ham is still a little cold (I guess more heat comes from the bottom grill plate), so if it's on the bottom, it warms through nicely.
