Apart from stuff like nappies, the only things my two had bought new for them in the first few years of life were from relatives. Babies don't know where their stuff comes from.

I think it's even easier these days with ebay, freecycle and NCT sales.

Try the NCT nearly new sales which are basically a big sale of good quality second hand baby stuff. I got a mama's & papa's cot for £25 that was in perfect condition.

Thanks clw- that's really helpful! xx

cots do sometimes come up on our freecycle, but they get snapped up quickly I think. I was lucky and given a cotbed by a friend.

I would recommend netmums too, there's a nearly new section and some real bargains come up, I've got loads of stuff on there!

we got our cot off eBay for £20. I did get a lot of things off Freecycle, but don't remember seeing cots really. But things like Moses baskets, baby baths and bags of clothes come up quite often.

Cots and other baby stuff does come up on freecycle from time to time, but they go quickly. I'm managed to get a pram and moses basket.

There's no harm in posting a wanted ad, but try NCT and ebay too. Even brand new ones from places like Ikea are reasonably cheap.

I bought the Sniglar cot from Ikea it's £35 and it actually looks lovely in my sons room we actually spent more on the mattress - my little boy loves it he is 2 now and doesn't want to go in the car bed we have bought him.

Haven't had time to read replies so sorry for repeating. I got loads of baby stuff (and continue to get lot's of childrens things) off freecycle.
I also like my local netmums board. They have a nearly new section so is good for looking for specifics (unlike freecycle)
Local paper usually have loads of baby stuff in the freeads.

My cot is from Ikea, not the cheapest one (I was given mine otherwise it would have been :D) and it is great!!

    HTH.

We had the IKEA cheapy cot , and it saw us through both our girls. Why not post a wanted ad on freecycle, and see where you go.

Try netmums ! I love this site and everything is local so won't have to travel too far.

Edit... should have said that you need to register first ... click on local boards...... click on nearly new board .... click the for sale board to look for items ( you can also do a search)

Ps I have asked for things from freecycle and been overwhelmed by peoples generosity
