not sure about a colour but I washed it with a sponge this morning and loads of the dark varnish has come off showing oak, it looks kind of "prim" as it is.
I collected an easel from a woman this pm and said I didn't paint much nowadays except chalk painting furniture, and she said "oh my friend at Nonnington does that and sells it on e bay" And I wondered if she is in this thread somewhere :D

They were from the pound shop a quid for a set of 4 bugs: butterfly,
    Dragonfly, ladybird and bumble bee.

I bought em for the garden table in the summer but I like em here now ;)

I bought 3 large plastic plant pots on Friday from HB. Any ideas on Shabbying them up for the garden?

Maybe a colour wash rather than a full on colour would be good to show the wood through ? Yes I saw the person of whom you speak on eBay as I tend to hunt by distance!

I've painted plastic garden pots. The last one I did was with home made chalk paint, I used one dulux type tester post and a big splodge of polyfiller and a bit of water. Then I varnished it. At the time I only had inside varnish... So that pot has gone through the autumn and winter still painted but I noticed that the top rim is going nicely chippy distressed lately!! I think external varnish would have given it a longer life.

Over the years I've also painted them with emulsion and gloss and the paint usually lasts longer than the pot. Pitch black out there at the mo but may take a pic if it stops raining this week
