Flogas - Please Help, the Cowboys Want to Take us to Court!

I am writing this post as a friendly warning to anybody considering signing up with Flogas - I would say, steer well clear!

It is unlikely that many people would go with Flogas anyway, considering their high prices, however should you be thinking about going with them please read my story first.

Also, if somebody could offer some advice it would be great, thanks!

When my girlfriend and I moved into our new house, we discovered that the existing gas suppliers were Flogas. So, we shopped around to find the best price on gas, which happened to be a local supplier who supplied many of the other homes in our village, and of whom we have only heard good things.

So, we took the decision to move supplier to the local company. This is when the trouble started, we called Flogas to advise them we would be moving suppliers. They proceeded to make it as hard as possible, coming up with all sorts of excuses as to why we couldn't switch - thankfully the local suppliers were extremely helpful and sorted the switch out for us.

However, one day we returned from work to discover a delivery note posted through our letterbox saying that Flogas had put 900 litres of gas in our tank, and this was followed by a bill for the gas at an extortionate price!

Needless to say my girlfriend and I were shocked about this, however the local suppliers were still very helpful and arranged the purchase of the tank and became our new suppliers.

We have asked Flogas many times to come and take their gas back out of the tank, however they claim they cannot do this and want full payment for the gas!

In what other industry could a company deliver a product that nobody has ordered, without a signature, and refuse to take it back - demanding full payment for the product??

Yesterday we received a letter saying that they (Flogas) plan to begin legal proceedings against us.

What can we do!?!

dan_85, be wary of this poster or dealing with him by PM - he is in the industry and here it seems in a business capacity. This problem is not a problem to do with the industry as such, it is a straight forward contracts and consumer rights question. Flogas are out of order, they don't have a leg to stand on without a contract from you - as you have moved into the property.

Personally, I would be looking up the law on unsolicited goods [gas is goods]. There is a time limit for them to collect their goods back once you have told them to sort it out - then it becomes yours. I hope all your contact with them is in writing and that you are keeping copies.
