Got my 1st babysitting agency job on Saturday!

When I first joined this community (mid August 2006) I was trying desperately to pluck up the courage to tell my parents about my debt, (and the Trust Deed I had signed) as well as trying to feel better about myself.

With the support of people here I told my parents and do feel a hell of a lot better for not having to hide anything anymore. Although I do not post as regularly as some I do read nearly every day, it has become a bit of a obssession! Picking up tips on money saving, I would never have dreamed before this site to keep a spending diary or sell books and other things on Amazon, ebay or Green Metropolis I was more of a horder!

Doing my 1st ever car boot sale on Saturday morning which I am quite excited about!

At the time I joined this community I also had an interview for a babysitting agency to try earn a bit extra money, well yesterday I received my Discosure Scotland and today my 1st not 1 but 2 calls asking me to babysit, one was from 8.30-12.30 the other 7-1 I have taken the longer one as it is about £8 more.

Things seem to finally be getting better :)

I dont know how much you get with the agency ,but for me i found i make more by just putting up ads in newsagents windows etc ! and getting free cards printed up wuth vista print

with the agency it was going to be £5.25 p/h but i charge £6 - £7 by doing in on my own !

enjoy the carbooty and babysitting ! :)

  • Hi Hun you're doing a great job, well done! :T

Do they have agencies like that in Scotland? I love kids and I would love to do it too... Do you need to be a nanny or whatever?

    Hi LittleL
I have joined Sitters babysitting agency https://www.sitters.co.uk it has taken me really since the end of June to get my 1st job, I applied online and they sent me for an interview with the regional supervisor in August, then I had to wait on my enhanced Disclosure Scotland coming through, this came through on Wednesday and I got my 1st text message yesterday. As well as tomorrow I now have a job next friday afternoon which I have been luck enough to have been able to accept.
I think as long as you have some experience working with children and can provide references then the company will accept you. The other option is to look in the Yellow Pages as there are other companies advertised for similar services.

    I hope this is helpful

  • Hi Pamela, thanks for that. Sounds quite good.. Think I'll apply too. I also think once you're established with the agency and have a few shifts out of the way then you'll be offered alot more work or even repeat jobs since the parents (and children) get to know you.

Hope this turns in to a great wee earner for you...

    Hey Pamela,

I just noticed this - good for you and I'm glad things are on the up for you. It's a shame you're so far away from me as I could do with a babysitter now and again.

    Best wishes.
