Tiscali transferring clients to LLU without permission

Hello

Some of you are already switched from Mac to LLU but Tiscali will be switching me on 5 Oct. but they havent informed me that I am going onto LLU. I just received a letter from them ,and also an email just saying "network enhancements" nothing about LLU. They also say I may lose broadband and BT line for upto 2 hours. The only way I know LLU was coming is that BT told me ( I phoned them about Tiscali trying to CPS my phone as I transfered to their £12.99 1mb service, and they mention that my broadband was being changed) When I phoned Tiscali they admitted LLU was coming, but say I cannot stop it.

So a warning to you .Also can someone advise me. Is LLU that bad, how long can we expect a transfer to another bband supplier to take without Macs. And have I a right to stop it.

Regards

Alan

There isn't meant to be much difference between trying to get MACs under normal conditions or if you've been convered to LLU.

Some people have reported problems getting MACs if they're on LLU network.

You have to remember that currently Tiscali and other bb providers can refuse to issue you with a MAC anyhow regardless of whether you're on a LLU network or not and there is nothing that can be done.

I'd recommend completing Ofcom's consultation here as more people that complete it saying they want MAC to be regulated then that means bb providers would have to issue MAC unless there is a very good reason otherwise risk Ofcom intervening.

Currently MAC issuing is "voluntary" hence why bb providers don't have to issue MAC. Tiscali's LLU were reported as one of those companies that refused to issue MACs to E7 customers (who used Tiscali's LLU) unless signing with their preferred supplier and no-one else (see thread above).

As for time it takes without broadband then I believe its a few weeks without a MAC - at least 2 weeks I believe as you have to do a cease and reprovide (as a brand new customer) order which unfortunately takes time.

I don't think there is anything you can do especially if you're still within your minimum term. If you're outside it then you can move but more and more bb providers are using LLU now basically because its a lot cheaper for them to do so instead of using BT's equipment and paying BT a fortune.
