The fact she was rude annoys me , did she swear keep her cool etc. Backing out of a space does not give you any sort of right of way at all , its sorta like contravenin g a white line and sitting poking out across a lane of traffic to get into a que , again no right of way ( sorry that one gripes me) . Go through a management company , get your son checked over . CCTV and do the annoying woman disabled or not ( I am by the way disabled) she had no right of way and should have been watching what she was doing and given way to you.
Okay rant overONE HOUSE , DS+ DD Missymoo Living a day at a time and getting through this mess you have created. One day life will have no choice but to be nice to me :rotfl:0 -
Also I'm pretty sure that even if disabled, you still need to be able to operate your vehicle to a reasonable standard (perhaps with adaptations, such as one of those steering wheel knobs), it's not a valid excuse for crap driving.0

Can we get back on topic and stop the abuse please?Near a tree by a river, there's a hole in the ground.

Weird but in Tesco I make a point of parking as far away from the entrance door as possible yet in ASDA the reverse is true. As to the OP read your insurance hand book, ring them as well, stress that that the incident is not your fault, that you want the other drivers insurance to pay for the repair, as much reassurance as poss that your NCD will not be affected and don't loose sleep over it. It is only a car and more importantly you and your child are ok.0

Also get you and your son checked out. Even a very slow impact can cause whiplash, in children more so as their heads are so much heavier in relation to their body. Your probably both fine, but it can take a couple of days to show so do get checked out.0

I go very slowly when backing out as you have to pretty much hope nothing is coming as you can't see. If you see a car that was backing out you should stop and let them go, particularly if it's a disabled space as the drive may have limited mobility and might not be able to see very well behind them.
Iam usually courtous (sorry about spelling!) but the car really did just start reversing suddenly, I might be wrong but I would have thought that disabled spaces have more room to see when reversing out.
Thanks for your advice everyone.
I spoke to my insurance company earlier, the guy I spoke seemed to take it as a given that the other driver has or was going to admit fault until I told him that I had spoke to her and she had told me that she believed that it was my fault.
Sadly my local Tesco doesn't have CCTV (discovered this when my car was broken into there). I didn't actually think of a camera at the time although I did have my phone on me (duh me!)
The main thing that I am worried about is losing my NCD as my budget is already streched.
But if that is the worse thing that happens to me or my son in a car its nothing to worry about.
Again thanks everyone :T0 -
She reversed into you, of course its her fault, also if a disabled person or anyone else for that matter cannot safely reverse out of a parking spot, they should not be driving and are a liabilty on the road, reversing is a part of driving and you should be able to do it!Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -

I agree with Lum, bet it was a Chelsea tractor with some lazy tart in it rather than a disabled personCoveredinbees!!!! wrote: »Yea you try reverse parking a van, muppet.0 -

What way do van doors open? Would it not be more sensible to drive a van in instead of reversing in?
Then you dont have to rely in other drivers to be considerate (which they wont be)0 -
So it's safer to reverse a van out into traffic because you can't see when you are reversing? Makes sense. I've managed perfectly well to reverse a van on to my drive at home, between other vehicles. I don't see the problem. If you can reverse it out of a space, you can reverse it into one, surely. Plenty of other drivers do it. Maybe you need to practise?0
