Working at Lidl?

Does anyone have any recent experience (within the past 12 months) of working at Lidl?

I've looked online and found a lot of info about how terrible they are, but it's all from 2+ years ago. I want to know if the company has changed in recent times, as I'm considering working there.

do you have to be self employed to work for them, im sure you have to pay your own tax and NI but i might be wrong.

    See what they're like.

The interview went well, but I think they require more flexibility than I can give them. They also seem to ignore the 11-hour daily rest entitlement. £6.50 an hour isn't bad, but finishing work one day at 9:30PM and starting at 6:00AM the next isn't really on.

Whilst not legal is it really that bad asking you to finish at 9.30pm one night and start the next night, it wouldn't be every day would it?

And I saw a debate on MSE that retail were exempt due to shifts but I'm not sure what happened to that

  • I wouldn't get into the house until 10:15PM, and I'd have to be up at 4:30AM the following morning. That's about 5 hours sleep, which *really* isn't enough for me. Also, I don't want to work for a company that breaks the law like that. What else are they going to be doing that breaks the law that they don't advertise? Possibly nothing, possibly an awful lot.

As mentioned it is debateable whether it is breaking the WTD as it is shift work but I'm not 100% on that so don't really want to say to much on that but I understand the point of getting up at 4.30am!!!
