private feedback rule change

Comments

  • ditto the above, never ever buy from a private feedback, as we know, negatives aren't always justified, and I would rather make my own mind up after reading the comments rather than just seeing 4 negs (or whatever) and not being able to see the reasons why. I agree with it being altered too.

unlucky op!! if feedback is private there is usually something to hide!! ;)
    :p:p Angel :p:p
  • I actually had it in my t&c's in olden days that people with privat efeedback should email me first !! definately something to hide !!!

sorry Jazzy, just because something similar sold for £10 it wouldnt put me off paying a little more for it, if it was something i wanted, nor would it put me off if I saw you only bought it for £3. If its something I want that badly and i cant get it else where ..then pay for it I must.
  • here here, I too avoid private feedback sellers. Makes me feel like they are the dodgy market seller that is always looking over their shoulder.
Sorry, but this is just my opinion.
  • yer me too, and im not thrilled if they bid on my items either

Although i only specify bidders with lower than 5 don't bid so i don;t really secure myself

I'm thankful for any bids I get, I certainly wouldn't lose a lot of my newbie bidders by telling them not to bid. Also, how do you enforce that, do you watch your auctions all the time and pull any bids?

    Im glad this is changing!
why should some people be allowed to hide there feedback!!

this is part of the notice - (just incase u havnt seen it!)
    What will change?
    • Members who have private Feedback profiles will no longer be allowed to list items after this change is made. Only members with public Feedback profiles will be permitted to list items.
    • Any items listed before the change will not be impacted. However, they may not be re-listed by sellers who keep their Feedback profiles private.
    • Members who wish to make their Feedback profiles private can still do so. However, they must cancel any existing listings, and they will not be allowed to create new listings as long as their Feedback is private
    .

It's easy to make your Feedback profile public – just sign in and click on the "Make my profile public" option.

finally ebay makes a change which is good for us!!

I dnt have that many auctions in comparison to many
I have been messed around so much by several newbies that i dnt like them bidding, and yer i would just pull them
I dnt state it on all auctions, and as i have few auctions it easy to control

I'm glad this is changing, i would never buy from a private feedback seller as you'd wonder what they have to hide.

I often switch between making my feedback private and public simply because I often buy gifts on eBay for the oH or family members, often in advance of an occasion like a birthday or anniversary; I just dont want to ruin a surprise for them.. or should that be ruin it for me.. hmmm..

Anyway, I have no problems with buying from a private feedback seller if I have plenty of communication with them prior to bidding. If in doubt, askfor the item number of a negative auction and email the other party.

I can see where people are coming from though as some eBay scam artists will spend months building a decent feedback rating then pull off three big scams resulting in neg feedback and their listing will say something like 99% positive.. not showing the recent transactions where they could have ripped people off.
