Hi Guys
Last week I was visiting Ifracombe for the day and parked the car in a centrally located car park. The cost for a ticket for the day was £4.50 and I had only five pound coins, which I inserted into the ticket machine. Of course I receive no change and one valid ticket in return.
I put the ticket on the dash board but either I put the ticket upside down or it blew over when I shut the door, hence an inspector not being able to see if the ticket was valid. At this point I accept receiving a Parking Charge Notice from an inspector, only assuming that it would be rescinded once I sent the ticket to the company issuing the PCN. When I noticed the PCN was not a council notice I had a bad feeling about it.
I responded in a short polite note to the company based in Barnstable that there was no intention to mislead and that I had in fact bought a ticket ( which I sent them but took a photo of it for my records ) and hoped to hear from them with a satisfactory decision.
To my amazement I received a letter to day from them still demanding the fine, which is £80 and that this would increase to £120 if not paid within six days! They state that the notices in the car park state that tickets must be clearly displayed. In the letter they stated that they gave the matter "serious consideration" and " have not found sufficient grounds to cancel the charge". Obviously this has made me very angry but am seeking any assurances out there from anyone that I need not pay this PCN.
Has anyone any other tips and strategies that I can use to take these morons on?
Thanks in advance.

There are hundreds of other identical threads on here. How much more reassurance do you need?
Ignore it and move on.
It stands to reason that your "appeal" would fail - they are in the business of making money. Why would they tell you not to pay?0 -
Don't waste your time just ignore them and let them waste theirs. Don't contact, phone, reply or anything. You've paid, they have lost nothing.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

"Obviously this has made me very angry but am seeking any assurances out there from anyone that I need not pay this PCN."
A quick search of this forum will provide all and any answers you need.
No need to be angry - pity is a better emotion for these scum.0 -
This is a scam, as others have said the only strategy is to ignore the ticket and letters.
It's not a fine, not a valid PCN, just a mickey mouse ticket. Some people here collect these for fun and especially to cost these scumbags some money in sending these threatograms. You should have got a good feeling about it when you saw it was a private ticket!
Have you seen all the threads like yours? Every original new poster on here is ignoring a PPC ticket except the odd Council PCN case. Click here to see the whole sub-board, every thread:

There are hundreds and hundreds of threads, read some now, look at your letter-chain preview on the top thread 'PPC letter/threats, what to expect' (play snap when the matching standard computer-generated tosh arrives). Our pics on that thread show the exact debt collector letters and reassures you that Court does NOT follow.
Google 'private parking scam' and read any forum advice results you get - you'll soon see a pattern! Read some info on pepipoo forums as well, such as the Watchdog programme from May this year where they tell you what to do with these bogus tickets:

Did I say, keep ignoring?! Paper aeroplane time! Then go back and park there again.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
