Hi please could you help me with my query
I am leaving my job soon and I receive child and working tax credits, I'm mortgage free and I have a little money saved, I have never claimed unemployment benefit and I would rather not claim it, I receive maintenance for my child I have heard that I will still be able to receive the child tax credit, until I get another job.

You would still receive CTC, but not WTC. How old is your child?Gone ... or have I?0

Are you leaving your job voluntarily?0
-
If you are voluntarily leaving your job, you may be sanctioned for up to 26 weeks if you try to claim JSA.
As DMG said, you can not claim WTC if you are not working.
You need to inform tax credits of the change in your circumstances so they can adjust your award.0 -
Hello Lyndsay,
If yu are being 'let go' you entitled to job seekers allowance if you are indeed looking for another job.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Yes I will inform the tax office the day I leave my job I know i'm not entitled to working tax credits as I will not be working, my child is 14years old, and yes I will have to leave my job, I refuse to be shouted at by an auditor who visited my works today and on the shop floor was shouting at me because the managements incompetence. I have been following my managers instructions for 3 years they have been breaching security issues, yet it was my fault for following them. I have finally had enough :mad:0

Ok. So you will be classed as choosing to leaving your job and thus may/will be unable to receive JSA for 26 weeks. You can put in a claim, but it will be sanctioned. As before, you will not be able to claim WTC anymore.
Is there no way you could deal with the situation at work without giving up your job?0 -
I would take a few weeks to contemplate your decision ,its the heat of the moment and we never make informed choices then. The jobs market is very very tough right now.Can you take a few days off ?Life is short, smile while you still have teeth

I have never had JSA and I will do everything I can to not claim it, I guess being mortgage free is a relief, I have tried for the past 3 years to resolve issues, I was even off sick with with chest pains because of the stress. Nothing has changed if anything it is getting worse my health is more important to me the other staff members are also fed up with our managers. :mad:0

You should put in a grievance because if you need to claim JSA, you are less likely to be sanctioned if you can show good cause why you left your job.I have never had JSA and I will do everything I can to not claim it, I guess being mortgage free is a relief, I have tried for the past 3 years to resolve issues, I was even off sick with with chest pains because of the stress. It may be worth your while posting in the employment board who have employment experts.0 -
I put in a grievance once on behalf of me and my colleagues, they said they would resolve it but nothing changed, we have put up with all kinds of malpractices in there. It's not just a heated moment I am really beginning to get depressed it's just not worth the hassle anymore
. I will do some voluntary work instead.:) Thanks for all your replies x 0
