Hi msconfused
I would like to clarify this issue for you and other forum users as well. So that I can provide accurate information for the supply that you are receiving within your distribution area, can you PM me your full electricity supply number, including the group of numbers that come in a block of 2, 3 then 3.
Once I have this information I will confirm to the forum the exact position in relation to your day/night rates.
Kind Regards
Colin @ ScottishPower
I too am concerned that I make the right decision. I have economy 7 with 5 storage heaters.
I am currently with Southern Electric on Go Direct 5 tariff I have a £50 penalty to pay as I switched from Atlantic to Go Direct just a few months ago.
All the searches I do say that SP is the cheapest for me but I am getting different amount of saving from different comparison sites.
Uswitch is the lowest with I think £133 going up to over £400 with moneysupermarket.
Uswitch ask for the units whereas the others just ask for the total.
My use for the past year has been DAY 2280
NIGHT 12808.
I am wondering if it is worth my while changing to SP.
I did try to make the switch last Wednesday 15th September with Energy Helpline but for some reason the transaction did not complete.
I didn't receive any email which is why I contacted EHL who had nothing on record. Also spoke to SP yesterday and they too have no record of my transaction.
I am confused and wondered if you would help me make a decision.
Regards

You will notice that Colin has asked for your supply number.
This is to check an item called the SSC which tells any industry party, including your Supplier what the meter is. From this they have a set of tables that can be obtained online called Market Domain Data, and in these tables are the switching times for the meters. He can hopefully derive this from the MTC code & LLF code which are the 3 blocks of 3 numbers.
This is why you should always contact your Supplier.
Oh, by the way, your supply number is updated by your Supplier to ECOES. It can frequently be incorrect, but your actual Supplier can check in their internal systems because the Meter Operator they use will have sent them this SSC when they fit your meter. Whenever you change Supplier, this data gets passed on to enable you to get a bill from them.
So, if you have any billing discrepancies or o/s meter changes, your supply number can be old/wrong.
So, Colin will need to ensure that the meter matches what they are sent from the Meter Operator. If not, any quoted clock times will also be incorrect.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
